As South Africa moves from the dysfunctional social systems of Apartheid into a healthy, functioning nation, there are hundreds of emerging NGOs that are focused on specific projects at the local community level. This is where the difficult and often thankless work of social transformation occurs. The South Africa Community Fund has identified five of these organizations in the Cape Town region for financial support. The Community Fund receives grants on behalf of these organizations and passes along 100% of the funding it receives for these groups. No funds are held back for overhead costs.

Although these grants and donations are not significant in size compared to the size of South Africa’s national budget, these grants do make it to organizations whose good works are profound and way out of proportion to their size. The staffs of these organizations are devoted, skilled and selfless. Their work goes unnoticed by the large development corporations but not by the thousands of community members who benefit from their programs. The South Africa Community Fund is a non profit organization in the USA and can receive tax deductible donations to support these local efforts in South Africa.
